Bradish records first double-double in Roos women's basketball win against St. Joseph

Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's basketball team controlled play throughout leading the entire second half en route to a 53-47 victory over visiting College of St. Joseph on Friday evening at the Roos House.

Janelle Bradish (Massena, NY) recorded her first double-double as a Roo posting 13 points and 15 rebounds. Alicia Uhlein (Watertown, NY ) recorded a team-high 15 points to go with four steals and three assists. Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) had a solid performance with eight points and eight rebounds, while Joelle Percy (Black River, NY) added six points and six boards.

The Roos (4-13) started the game scoring the contest's first four points. SUNY Canton outscored the Saints 16-5 the final seven minutes of the first half to take a commanding 26-15 lead into intermission.

Uhlein paced the Roos with 11 points and Bradish tallied seven in the opening half. Both teams struggled shooting less than 27 percent from the field. The College of St. Joseph committed 18 first half turnovers compared to just 11 for the hosts.

SUNY Canton kept a large cushion a majority of the second half but College of St. Joseph used a quick 5-0 spurt on a three-pointer from Chontayvia Kennedy and a lay-in from Marshae Sterling to get within 45-42 with 4:59 to play.

The teams exchanged baskets and then Percy hit a knockdown trey with 1:19 left to put the Roos up six and seal the victory. Kennedy led all scorers with 19 points for the Saints, while Sterling contributed a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

These two teams will have a rematch Sunday at the College of St. Joseph beginning at 1:00 p.m.
