The St. Lawrence women's hockey team came-from-behind twice against Penn State on Monday afternoon, with senior captain Amanda Boulier netting the game-winning goal in the third period to help the Saints sweep the Nittany Lions with a 4-2 victory in Appleton Arena.

Fellow seniors Megan Armstrong and Kailee Heidersbach also tallied goals for St. Lawrence, as did junior Brooke Webster. First-year netminder Grace HarrisonAmanda Boulier scored the game-winning goal in the third period against Penn State. earned her first win for the Scarlet and Brown with a 10-save performance.

The Saints dominated the shot count, finishing with a 42-12 advantage in shots on goal, including 18 in the final frame while trying to snap the 2-2 tie.

"That was a solid effort from start to finish today," Head Coach Chris Wells said. "We were able to move at a faster pace and made some nice plays."

Penn State led 1-0 after the first period on a goal by Hannah Bramm at the 8:12 mark, but Armstong tied it up early in the middle frame with her fourth of the season. She redirected a shot from the point by first-year Kayla Nielsen past Nittany Lions netminder Celine Whitlinger.

Just minutes later, Penn State regained the lead, 2-1, on a power play tally by Laura Bowman. She took a cross-crease pass from Amy Petersen and beat Harrison on the blocker side for her seventh of the season.

But that would be all the Penn State would get behind the Auckland, New Zealand native, as a full-scale defensive effort by the Saints helped to shut down the visitors.

At the 16:55 mark of the second, Webster evened the score when she stuffed the rebound from a shot by Heidersbach under the pads of Whitlinger. Heidersbach's intial shot rang off the outside of the post and Webster dug it out of the ensuing scrum in front for her fourth of the season to make it a 2-2 game.

Boulier – who had been firing shots from the point all night long – finally found the back of the net at the 8:38 mark of the third to help the Saints to their ninth win of the season. Kennedy Marchment won a battle on the half wall and played the puck out to the Watertown, Conn. native at the right point. Her slapshot froze Whitlinger as it sailed over her left shoulder and under the bar for the game winner.

With 50 seconds remaining in regulation and Whitlinger on the bench, Heidersbach added an empty net power play goal to seal the victory for the Saints.

"Whitlinger did a fantastic job all night," Wells added. We had a few good screens that led to goals. It was great to see our effort and resilience in our fourth game in five days."

The Saints went 3-1 during that five-day stretch and are 8-2 in their last 10 games. They will finish the semester with an ECAC Hockey series at home on Dec. 4 and 5 against Cornell and Colgate.
