Senior defenseman Amanda Boulier had the game-winning goal and an assist as the St. Lawrence women's hockey team came from behind for a 3-2 win over Syracuse on Saturday afternoon in a nonconference contest at Appleton Arena on the Saints' alumnae weekend.

Syracuse carried a 1-0 lead into the first intermission off a goal by Alysha Burriss, as she tucked the puck inside the post and behind starting netminder Brooke Wolejko at the 14:16 mark.

Early in the middle frame, first-year Justine Reyes netted the equalizer when she redirected a shot from classmate Lydia Grauer just over two minutes in, with Brooke Webster also assisting on the play.

Boulier and Kennedy Marchment set up Hannah Miller who gave the Saints a 2-1 lead at the 6:29 mark of the second with her fourth of the year. Miller let go of a wrister in the slot that beat Orange goaltender Jenn Gilligan inside the far post.

Early in the third period, it was Boulier who gave the Saints a necessary insurance goal and the eventual game-winning tally, with a bomb from the just inside the blue line that beat Gilligan high under the crossbar for her second of the year.

Syracuse added an extra-attacker goal with 11 seconds remaining in the contest, but it was too little, too late for the Orange.

Wolejko and first-year Sonjia Shelly combined to make 20 saves for St. Lawrence in the win. Wolejko had seven stops in just over 30 minutes of actions, while Shelly made 13 saves – including one on a breakaway with 8:51 to play.

Gilligan made 22 saves for Syracuse, as the Saints finished with a slight 25-22 edge in shots on goal on Saturday afternoon.

The game with the Orange was the first time for St. Lawrence head coach Paul Flanagan had returned to Appleton Arena since departing to start the women's ice hockey program at Syracuse in 2008. He was joined by nearly 50 women's hockey players who returned for an alumnae game and the dedication of the Lisa Arcand Hoy '91 Change Room earlier Saturday morning.

St. Lawrence will open ECAC Hockey conference action on the road next weekend with games at Dartmouth and Harvard on Oct. 30 and 31, respectively.
