Senior Tobin Boomer (Louisville, KY) scored two second-half goals to lead the Clarkson University Soccer team past cross-town rival Potsdam State 2-0 in a Tuesday night game played at Hantz Turf Field.

The Golden Knights, who extended their unbeaten streak over the Bears to four games (3-0-1), snapped a four-game losing skid to improve their record to 5-10-1. Clarkson closes out the season hosting archrival St. Lawrence University, the number-one ranked team in the country, on Saturday in a 7:00 p.m. game under the lights in Potsdam.

The Knights, who were shut out in their previous four games, had several opportunities to end their scoring drought in the first half against Potsdam (7-8-3) with eight shots over the opening 45 minutes. The Knights finally got on the scoreboard early in the second half.

In the 49th minute, Boomer finished off a cross from sophomore Angelo DiFrancesco (Penfield, NY) with a header to the far post. Boomer and DiFrancesco connected again in the 66th minute. Boomer took a pass in the box from DiFrancesco and scored on a low shot for his third goal of the season.

Clarkson outshot Potsdam (7-8-3), 18-4. The Bears held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

Junior goaltender Scott Stuart (Ottawa, ONT) was called upon to make just two saves (one each half) in recording his first victory of the year with the shutout.
