The St. Lawrence line of Aaron Bogosian, Kyle Flanagan and Greg Carey combined for four goals and 11 points at Michigan Tech's John MacInnes Ice Arena Saturday evening, and freshman goaltender Matt Weninger recorded his second career shutout as the Saints slammed Michigan Tech 6-0 to complete the non-league portion of the schedule.

The Saints, 7-10-4 overall, finish their non-league play at 4-4-4 after a win and a tie in the two game set in Houghton. It was the first Saint win over Michigan Tech since 1966.

The Saints controlled the play in the first period of Saturday's game and broke through for a 2-0 lead, scoring goals just 35 seconds apart. Pete Child got the first one as his shot from the center point beat goalie Josh Robinson, who was screened by traffic in front. Child's fourth of the season was set up by Kyle Flanagan, who took the puck from Pat Raley, fought off a check by a Tech defender and slid the puck back to Child at the blue line at 14:47.

"We got off to a good start and I thought we played with a lot more energy and enthusiasm tonight," said Saint coach Joe Marsh. "Our top line put on a show in the second period with three very pretty goals, and I thought we did a good job supporting Weninger in the third period by blocking some shots in front and clearing some rebounds."

Jacob Drewiske made it a 2-0 game at the 15:22 mark when he pounced on a second rebound and flipped it over a sprawled Robinson. Mark Armstrong started the play with a shot from the point which Robinson stopped, but the goalie was unable to control the rebound. Max Mobley took one whack at the bouncing rebound before Drewiske was able to put it away for his third of the season. The Saints outshot Michigan Tech 13-4 in the first period and killed off a pair of Husky power plays without allowing a shot on goal.

The line of Bogosian, Kyle Flanagan and Carey exploded for three second period goals as the Saints opened a 5-0 lead. Bogosian scored his second of the weekend and seventh of the year just 11 seconds into the first Saint power play chance of the game as he one-timed a perfect goal mouth pass by Flanagan past Robinson with Carey also assisting at 5:20. Bogosian scored his second of the night from about the same spot next to the right post at 14:09, converting 32 seconds into a power play as Carey took the puck and sent it to Bogosian who flipped it over a sprawling Robinson.

Carey scored the 13th goal of his rookie season with 32 seconds to play in the second period as Bogosian worked the puck free along the side boards, tapped it to Kyle Flanagan and Flanagan snapped a pass to Carey, who was skating down the slot and one-timed it past Robinson for the fifth goal of the game.

Carey completed the scoring with 2:08 to play when Sean Flanagan blocked a Michigan Tech shot near the Saint blue line and Carey picked up the deep rebound and broke away, putting his 14th of the season past backup goalie Corson Cramer.

Weninger finished with 22 saves for the second shutout of his rookie season, 11 of those coming in the third period while Robinson had 18 saves and Cramer made five for Michigan Tech. The Saints outshot the Huskies 29-22 and held the Tech power play scoreless in seven opportunities.
