POTSDAM, N.Y. – SUNY Potsdam Cross Country Coach Peter Cutler has announced the appointment of Kristopher Boettcher as the Bears' assistant coach for the 2012 season.

“I look forward to continuing coaching the Potsdam Bears Cross Country team in my new role this year,” said Boettcher.

Boettcher began his collegiate career in 2009 with the University of Nottingham Cross Country team during his undergraduate study abroad trip in England. While at Nottingham, he was a member of the two-mile relay team that received a first place finish at the Birmingham Relays. Boettcher continued his career at the University of Albany, where he trained with Division I track and field athletes.

Boettcher returns to the team as the new assistant coach after volunteering last season with the Bears. His coaching knowledge and experience ranges from the 55m sprints to the half marathon. He also has completed his Level I coaching certification through USA Track and Field. Along with coaching, Boettcher continues to train for several USA Track and Field competitions including the road running and track and field circuits.

Boettcher graduated from the University of Albany with a bachelor's degree in Greek and Roman Civilization and a double minor in Russian Language and Sociology. This December, he will complete his graduate studies at SUNY Potsdam with a Master's of Science in Teaching with a concentration in social studies. Boettcher currently resides in Potsdam, N.Y.
