Sophomore Alanna Blackburn and senior Elizabeth Canne each won a pair of events and swam as part of the Saints winning 200-yard medley relay team to help the women's swim and dive team defeat Potsdam 155-125 Saturday afternoon.
Blackburn won both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle, while Canne won the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke. Other individual winners for the Saints included Courtney Goodrich in the 100 back (1:06.69) and Gabriella Marchetti in the 200-yard fly (2:24.77).
Competing for the first time since the Liberty League Championship meet in December, the Saints got off to a strong start taking first and second in the 200-yard medley relay to open the dual meet and pick up 15 points. Blackburn and Canne were joined by Goodrich and Heather Foley and finished in 1:56.07, while the second-place foursome composed of Kathryn Whittum, Julia Carson, Natalie Dellinger and Becca Raab recorded a time of 2.00:14.
Blackburn won the 50-yard free in 25.57 with teammates Raab (26.69) and Jane Moreau (27.42) close behind in second and third to help the Saints to an additional 16 points. Blackburn posted a time of 55.69 at the 100-yard distance in the event.
Canne picked up where she left off at the Liberty League meet, posting strong times of 1:12.52 in the 100 and 2:36.71 – nearly eight seconds ahead of the second-place swimmer – in the 200 breaststroke.
On the diving board, sophomore Nicole Jewett swept the one and three-meter events for the Saints, who will travel to St. Michaels in Vermont for a dual meet on Sunday afternoon.
