St. Lawrence University's women's track and field team has one individual champion and is third after day one of the 2014 New York State Collegiate Track and Field Conference Championships being held at St. John Fisher College.
Divya Biswal had the first Saint individual championship of the meet as she won the long jump with a 5.61 meter leap, just .13 off the SLU record.
The Saints have 41 points through the completion of Friday competition and trail Rochester by 14 with Ithaca second with 51.
The Saints had a productive performance in the javelin as Jenna Jasinski was second with a 35.09 meter throw, Hannah Kinsey fourth at 33.42 meters and Meghan O'Brien finished eight with a 29.82 meter throw to account for 14 points.
Kelsey Leder finished fourth in the 10,000 in 38:36.01 and the Saint 4x800 relay team of Ariel Beccia, Melanie Swick, Lisa Grohn and Amy Cymerman ran 9:54.4 to finish fifth.
Caitlin Boreyko finished sixth in the pole vault with a 3.02 meter mark
In addition to Friday's finals, the Saints advanced athletes to Saturday finals in several events.
Marisa Turner won the 400 meter prelims with a 58.78 clocking while Biswal ran 15.77, finishing second and advancing in the 100 hurdles. Ketura Mason advanced in the 100 meters with a 12.58 time, just .18 off the SLU record, and Carly Stine, who won in 1:05.18, Jacqui Ebeling, fifth in 1:08.28 and Molly Lennon, seventh in 1:08.40, advanced in the 400 hurdles. Mason also moved to the finals in the 200 meters with a 26.66 clocking.
Competition will resume Saturday morning.
