POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's hockey team (8-6-1, 4-3-1 ECAC West) scored four second period goals and downed Neumann University (6-8-1, 2-5-1) 4-2 on Saturday afternoon. Senior defenseman Madison Smith (Edmonton, Alberta/The College of St. Scholastica) and junior forward Jaci Morr (Monroe, Mich./Team Detroit) each had a goal and an assist for the Bears. Senior forward Jordan Ott (Hilton, N.Y./Rochester Edge) recorded her 99th career point on a goal and freshman defenseman Delphine Léonard (Montreal, Quebec/Dawson College Prep) notched her first collegiate goal.

Potsdam dominated the first period thanks in part to two power plays. The Bears outshot the Knights 14-5. However, Neumann senior goalie Julia Fair (Meadville, Pa./Pittsburgh Elite) kept her team in the game. The contest was scoreless after 20 minutes.

Five goals were scored in the second period. Morr scored her fourth of the year at the 5:45 mark with an assist from sophomore forward Tatum Walber (Orchard Park, N.Y./Buffalo Regals) to make it 1-0. Just seven seconds later Ott scored a power-play goal with an assist from Morr. It was her 10th of the season and 57th of her career. Smith added another power-play marker, and the eventual game-winner, at 12:05 with a helper from senior captain Amanda Peterson (West Chazy, N.Y./Chazy Flyers). 41 seconds later Léonard made it a 4-0 Potsdam advantage. Smith and sophomore forward Jenna Patterson (Boissevain, Manitoba/Westman Wildcats) each assisted on the play. Freshman forward Angeline Taiariol (Windsor, Ontario/Southwest Wildcats) finally got the Knights on the board at 13:18. The Bears outshot Neumann 20-7 and led 4-1 after two periods.

Knights junior sniper Bek Lucas (Feasterville, Pa./New Jersey Colonials) cut the lead in half at 6:30 of the third period, but they would get no closer. Potsdam freshman goalie Alexa Pfeiffer (Sylvania, Ohio/Little Caesar's) slammed the door the rest of the way with 12 saves in the final stanza.

Pfeiffer finished with 23 saves for her fourth career win. Fair had another strong day with 42 stops. Potsdam was 3-for-6 on the power play and held Neumann scoreless in two opportunities.

With the four-point weekend the Bears move into fourth place in the ECAC West.

Potsdam is back in action next weekend when the Bears head to Pittsburgh for two games with conference foe Chatham. Potsdam faces the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
