Brockport sophomore Kelly Wall and senior Nina Tassone combined for 11 goals and two assists, six of the goals coming in a 9-0 run to start the second half, as the Golden Eagles beat St. Lawrence University 17-9 in an NCAA Division III lacrosse game played on SUNY Canton's Lou Saban Field Thursday afternoon.

Brockport pulled even at 1-1 on the season with a dominating second half performance, while the Saints are also 1-1 after sustaining their first loss of the year.

Brockport trailed 7-5 at the half, but Makenzie Schuber set the tone for the second half when she won the draw control and sprinted up the middle of the field on a fast break to cut the Saint lead to 7-6 just 12 seconds into the half. The Eagles tied it on Payton Pallor's goal from Tassone 2:40 later and then Wall and Tassone went to work with a series of good moves on offense to get to one-on-one situations with Saint goalie Adden Cunningham.

Wall scored back-to-back goals and then Tassone scored three in a row as the Golden Eagles raced to a 14-7 lead before Kiera Taussig scored for the Saints to stop the run. The Saints never got closer than six goals the rest of the way.

Wall finished with six goals and an assist and Taussig had five and an assist. Ciara McKeon also played a big role for Brockport in the second half with 10 draw controls. Shuber had three ground balls and three caused turnovers to go with two goals and an assist while goalie Renne Harr made six saves for the win.

Cunningham made 20 saves for the Saints who received three goals from Kayla Schmalz and two from Taussig. Abigail Owens had a goal and two assists while Michaela Maybee, Chloe Knapp and Julia Mitiguy had single goals and Hayden Stein added an assist. Emma Garfield contributed two caused turnovers.

Brockport outshot the Saints 41-17 and won 19 of 28 draw controls. SLU had 21 turnovers in the game while Brockport had 15.

The Saints will play Bowdoin in Bradenton, FL on March 17 in their next outing.
