POTSDAM, N.Y.- The SUNY Potsdam women's soccer teams' (3-1) offense exploded in the first half to take down Johnson State (0-4) 7-0 on Friday night at Maxcy Turf. Six different Bears scored in the effort, while senior goalie Bri Thibeau (Salem, N.Y./Salem) stopped one shot on goal over the first 33:34 of the game and freshman keeper Julie Pijacki (Lancaster, N.Y./St. Mary's) closed out the match with five saves.

The Badgers rocketed off the first shot of the game 27 seconds in to the contest before Potsdam's offense took off. The Bears were awarded a corner kick at 15:03, senior captain Kaylen Van Wagner (Red Hook, N.Y./Hotchkiss) sailed it into the box, where junior forward Jaci Morr (Monroe, Mich./Monroe) headed home for their first goal. Less than five minutes later, sophomore midfielder Rachael Venne (Ellenburg Depot, N.Y./Northern Adirondack) dribbled by a defender and sent a shot into Johnson State's freshman goalie Kaila Lemmer's (Barnard, Vt./Woodstock Union) hands, but the ball shot back to freshman midfielder Ciara Norris (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt). Norris tipped the ball past Lemmer and it rolled across the goal line for the 2-0 lead. At 23:05, Potsdam was awarded a penalty kick after a foul on sophomore Olivia Seamans (Bolton Landing, N.Y./Bolton) in the box from the Badgers. Fellow sophomore midfielder Rylie Murray () took the kick and sent it into the left corner of the goal.

Johnson State's defense started to really wear down and the Bears took full control with another three goals in a one-minute span. Sophomore midfielder Brooke Falsion (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) got her third goal of the season when she sent a shot into the keeper that deflected off her hands and found the back of the net. Then junior forward Morgan Robbins (Cape Vincent, N.Y./Thousand Islands) got her scoring chance with a take away from the Badgers. Robbins dribbled into the box and fired a shot over Lemmer's head for the 6-0 lead. The final goal started after a miss cross that Murray ran down on the left side of the field. Murray found Falsion and she did her job by sending the score to 7-0 and that closed out the first half.

Potsdam almost got the score to eight when senior midfielder Michaela Cole (Parishville, N.Y./Parishville-Hopkinton) fired a shot that hit off the crossbar, but never made it over the goal line. Johnson State's offense was able to gather themselves a bit in the second half with six shots on goal, but Pijacki stayed strong to hold on to the shutout.

Lemmer stopped nine for the loss.

The Bears outshot the Badgers 20-9 and held the 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Potsdam is back at Maxcy Turf tomorrow when the Bears meet up with cross-town rival SUNY Canton at 7 p.m.
