POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (6-1) downed Utica College (2-3-1) 3-0 for its sixth straight win, setting the program record. Senior captain Erin McClusky (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart), freshman forward Olivia Seamans (Bolton Landing, N.Y./Bolton) and sophomore midfielder Brooke Falsion (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) each scored for the Bears.

Potsdam controlled the play from the outset, but it took several strong attempts before the Bears got on the board. At 23:13, senior captains Chloe Hay (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and McClusky connected for the latter's third goal of the year. Nearly 14 minutes later, junior midfielder Sami Hubinsky (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls) found Seamans. The freshman then stepped around Pioneer junior goalie Jamie Enders (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) and drove it home for a 2-0 lead. The ball rarely moved out of the Bears' offensive zone for the rest of the half and Potsdam held a 7-1 advantage in shots at the break.

The rainy second half was more of the same, as Potsdam didn't loosen its grip on the contest. After stifling Utica's offense, Falsion knocked home a rebound that deflected off Pioneer sophomore goalie Kimberly Beattie (Levittown, N.Y./Division Ave) to make it 3-0. The Pioneers were unable overcome the Bears' attack the rest of the game, falling by the same score.

Potsdam senior goalie Bri Thibeau (Salem, N.Y./Salem) made two saves to complete the shutout. Enders was tagged with the loss, allowing two goals and making three saves in 45 minutes. Beattie made three more saves in the second half.

The Bears outshot Utica 13-3 and finished with an 8-0 advantage in corners.

Potsdam heads to Troy on Monday to take on the Sage Gators at 7 p.m.
