POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (11-3-1, 4-2-1 SUNYAC) is ranked at No. 10 in this week's United Soccer Coaches' NCAA Division III Women's East Regional Poll. The Bears have been ranked in three of the last four polls, reaching as high as No. 8 last week.
Potsdam split two SUNYAC road games last weekend. On Friday, senior midfielders Brooke Falsion (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) and Rylie Murray (Berkley, Mich./Berkley) accounted for nearly all of the offense in a 3-0 win at SUNY New Paltz. Falsion scored two goals, including the game-winner, and Murray assisted on both markers and provided an insurance tally of her own. Sophomore goalkeeper Gabby Hobika (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) collected her fourth career shutout.
Despite falling 3-1 at Oneonta on Saturday, Falsion picked up an assist on sophomore forward Lexi Dean's (Schenectady, N.Y./Mohonasen) goal to become the Bears all-time scoring leader. Falsion now has 44 career goals and 15 assists for 103 points, one more than Hall of Famer Jodi Ziemba '07. Murray's big weekend moved her into third place all-time with 18 goals and 29 assists for 65 points.
The Bears are currently tied for second place in the SUNYAC. They wrap up the regular season this weekend at Maxcy Turf Field with a 3 p.m. Friday matchup with Buffalo State and an 11 a.m. contest against Fredonia on Saturday.
