BROCKPORT, N.Y.—Brockport's Vanessa Gillette scored two goals and assisted on a third in the first half to lead the Golden Eagles (13-1-2, 6-1-1 SUNYAC) to a 4-0 win over the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (2-14-1, 0-8) on Friday afternoon. Freshman goalie Jaime Durant made 10 saves for the Bears.
Annie Terilli got Brockport on the board first, finishing a pass from Potsdam native Kaila Maguire at 13:50. The Golden Eagles continued to build pressure after the goal and Gillette broke out for two goals in less than three minutes. She netted her first at 31:01 and scored her second just 2:37 later with an assist from Katie Gildemeyer. Maria Malone capped the scoring with just one second left in the first half on a helper from Gillette. Potsdam was able to slow Brockport's momentum in the second half, but still struggled offensively as they fell by the 4-0 count.
In goal, Golden Eagle Hannah Conine earned the victory with four saves in the first half. Teammate Laura Thompson finished the second half with one save.
The Bears conclude their season tomorrow with a 1 p.m. contest at Geneseo.
