POTSDAM, N.Y.- Sophomore midfielder Brooke Falsion (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) and sophomore forward Morgan Robbins (Cape Vincent, N.Y./Thousand Islands) each scored to lift SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (2-1) to a 2-0 victory over New England College (2-2). The win gave the Bears their second Potsdam College Cup title in four years. Freshman midfielder Rylie Murrary (Berkley, Mich./Berkley) was named to the all-tournament team and sophomore goalie Val Driscoll (Yorktown, N.Y./Yorktown) was the 2015 Potsdam College Cup Tournament MVP.

In the first game of the day, Keuka College wrapped up the second round of the cup with a 1-0 win over Sage Colleges to take third place.

The opening minutes of the game the teams were evenly matched, but you could see as the contest went on the Bears were starting to gain momentum. At 20:54, Falsion received a pass from senior forward Erin McCluskey (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart). Falsion took the ball in stride and kicked a strike past the outreach arms of Pilgrim goalie Mackenzie Meegan (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista) for her first collegiate goal to put the Bears up 1-0. As play continued on, Potsdam's defense tightened up to hold New England to only three shots in the half.

For a little early insurance, Robbins tacked on another point for the Bears at 43:14 with assists from Falsion and freshman forward Amber Hyatt (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt). The goal marked Robbins first collegiate goal, which gave the Bears the 2-0 lead to end the first period.

The teams battled in the second period with the Bears holding the advantage in shots 4-3 and corner kicks 5-2. To the dismay of the Pilgrims, Potsdam held onto their lead to bring the Potsdam College Cup title back to Potsdam in 2015.

Driscoll was solid between the posts with three saves. Meegan finished with two saves for the loss and freshman goalie Kayla Pugliese (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Rye Neck) came into the game to start the second period and stopped one.

The Bears are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Johnson State to battle with the Badgers at 4 p.m.

Keuka College 1, Sage Colleges 0

The two teams played a scoreless first half as the Gators dominated Keuka with their 13-5 edge on shots. Despite Sage's shots on goal, the Wolfpack scored the lone goal of the afternoon when junior midfielder Abbey David (Kendall, N.Y./Kendall) found the back of the net for the game winner. The Gators had several chances but couldn't get a shot past sophomore goalie Kenna Kosinski (Mumford, N.Y./Caledonia-Mumford).

Kosinski finished with 11 saves on the day, while freshman goalie Emaleigh Maloney (Troy, N.Y./Lansingburgh) stopped two for the loss. The Gators had the advantage in corner kicks 10-5 and shots 24-7.
