POTSDAM, N.Y.-, SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (5-1) runs past SUNY Canton (2-1-2) 6-1 at SUNY Canton Turf Field. Six different Bears scored in the offensive attack on the Kangaroos. The victory marked five in a row, which is the Bears longest win streak since 2009.

Potsdam hit Canton early and often during their Wednesday night matchup. The Roos only managed to get one shot off during the first half with the Bears firing at Canton goalie Kelsi Gilbert 12 times. Just 52 seconds into the contest, freshman forward Olivia Seamans (Bolton Landing, N.Y./Bolton) made the pass to senior captain Erin McClusky (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart) at the top of the 18. McClusky chipped the ball over the defender and past Gilbert for the 1-0 lead. At 23:58, the Bears second goal of the night was off a cross into the box. The ball bounced off a Roo defender and unluckily crossed the goal line in favor of Potsdam.

Five minutes later, freshman midfielder Rachael Venne (Ellenburg, N.Y./Northern Adirondack) was free on the right side and caught Gilbert off guard to sail it into net. At 34:26, freshman forward Amber Hyatt (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) joined in on the scoring with her first collegiate goal to bring the score to 4-0. Sophomore midfielder Brooke Falsion (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) tacked on another Bear goal with an assist from Venne to end the scoring for the first period with Potsdam leading 5-0. Bears held 1-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Shots evened out in the second half 5-5 with each team scoring once. At 52:11, the Bears tallied their last goal of the match when senior forward Brenna Vukelic (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst) received a cross from junior forward Alex Guidarelli (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) and slammed it past Gilbert. Canton's goal came at 69:31 by Aliza Armstrong to end the shutout by senior Bear goalie Bri Thibeau (Salem, N.Y./Salem). Potsdam took the victory 6-1.

Thibeau got the win with one save while her counterpart, Gilbert was hit with the loss and finished with 10 saves.

Potsdam is back in action Saturday when the Bears take on Utica College at 5 p.m. at Potsdam High School.
