OSWEGO, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse team (5-10, 2-5 SUNYAC) scored 12 second half goals to rally for a 15-10 SUNYAC victory at Oswego State (6-10, 1-7) on Tuesday afternoon. Senior attack Bailey Weigel (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East) had seven points on three goals and four assists to lead the Bears and sophomore midfielder Murphy Newman (Canton, N.Y./Berkshire School) scored four goals and added an assist.

Oswego struck twice in the opening 3:56, but Weigel connected with Newman to get Potsdam on the board at 20:18. Weigel then scored her first with the Bears down a player at 18:39 to tie the score. The Lakers answered with a 6-0 run over the next 15 minutes. Junior attack Bri McClusky (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart) closed the scoring in the first half with a man-up goal with 2:50 left. Potsdam trailed 8-3 at the break.

The Bears dominated the second half, outshooting Oswego 21-10 and scoring 12 goals to the Lakers two. Sophomore midfielder Alyssa Ferenczy (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) and senior attack Cheyenne Lazore (Akwesasne, N.Y./Salmon River) got Potsdam within 8-4 with consecutive goals to start the final 30 minutes. Oswego's Emily Lange temporarily slowed the Bears' momentum with her third of the game to make it 9-5 with 19:47 to play. Just 26 seconds later McClusky set up senior captain Margaret Wall (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas). Fellow Potsdam senior captain Katie Putnam (Chittenango, N.Y./Chittenango) followed with a goal at 18:31 to close the gap to 9-7. Oswego's final goal came three minutes later as Gemma O'Kane scored her third of the contest. The Bears then rattled off eight straight goals to seize control of the game. Newman scored three times during the stretch and Weigel scored twice. McClusky, Ferenczy and sophomore attack Katie Lapinski (Canton, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) each found the back of the net once. Newman put the nail in the coffin with a man-up tally with just 1:05 left.

In goal, sophomore Devan Olschewske (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) made nine saves to earn her eighth career win. Angela Ponto stopped seven shots for the Lakers.

Potsdam topped Oswego in shots (28-26), ground balls (33-31) and draw controls (15-12).
