POTSDAM, N.Y.—Senior assistant captain Abby Tardelli (Potsdam, N.Y./North Country Ice Storm) recorded her second career shutout as the SUNY Potsdam women's hockey team (9-12-2, 4-11-1 ECAC West) blanked Chatham University (6-14-1, 2-12-1) for its third straight victory. Junior forward Jordan Ott (Hilton, N.Y./Rochester Edge), freshman forward Jenna Patterson (Boissevain, Manitoba/Westman Wildcats) and sophomore forward Anna-Rose Bertin (Marathon, Ontario/Canadian International Hockey Academy) each scored for the Bears.

Potsdam jumped on the Cougars just 4:31 into the contest. After Chatham failed to clear the zone, Bears senior captain Katie Marsman (Wantagh, N.Y./Wyoming Seminary) sent the puck toward the net from the right corner and Ott tipped it past Cougars sophomore goalie Sydney Isbell (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Thunder Bay Queens) for the eventual game-winner. Chatham's defense clamped down after the goal and allowed just three more Potsdam shots the rest of the period. Tardelli turned aside seven Cougar attempts.

Patterson scored an unassisted tally 1:07 into the second period. The second half of the stanza saw the teams trade unsuccessful power plays. Potsdam outshot Chatham 12-11 in the middle 20 minutes and took the 2-0 lead into the second intermission.

After killing off another penalty, Bertin iced the game with a power-play goal at 7:55 of the third period. Senior forward Alison Greene (Massena, N.Y./Norwich University) dug the puck free in the right corner and fired it back to Ott in the middle of the blue line. Ott then found Bertin at the left post to tuck the puck home. Potsdam killed off two final power plays and Tardelli stopped 10 shots in the third period as the Bears wrapped up the victory.

Isbell finished with 19 saves in the loss. Potsdam was 1-for-3 on the man advantage, while the Cougars were 0-for-6.

The teams go at it again tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. in Maxcy Ice Arena to close out the series. Prior to the game, seniors Tardelli, Marsman, Greene, Rachel Grefke (Livonia, Mich./Victory Honda), Sally Mooney (Columbus, Ohio/Wyoming Seminary) and Emily Kriwox (Tupper Lake, N.Y./Tupper Lake) will be honored on Senior Day.
