POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Plattsburgh (8-7, 1-2 SUNYAC) and SUNY Geneseo (8-8, 2-1) each defeated the SUNY Potsdam volleyball team (9-4, 0-3) 3-0 on the second day of SUNYAC Pool Play at Maxcy Hall Field House.
The Cardinals took the three sets by scores of 25-10, 25-22 and 25-17. Senior outside hitter Stephanie Maddox (Anaheim, Calif./Cornelia Connelly) led Potsdam with seven kills and junior outside hitter Kelsey Tompkins (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) had five. Junior opposite Rachel Topf (Eagle River, Alaska/Chugiak) had 12 digs and sophomore Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) finished with 16 assists. Freshman outside hitter Gabrielle Scott (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) added three kills and 10 digs, while senior libero Sloane Campbell (Scotia, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) rounded out the leaders with two aces and 11 digs.
The Bears fell to the Blue Knights by 25-11, 25-15 and 25-7 counts in the finale. Tompkins had six kills and a block. Campbell contributed two aces and 13 digs. Rodda posted 15 assists and Topf had 12 digs and a block. Scott chipped in another 13 digs.
Next, Potsdam heads to St. Lawrence for a 7 p.m. contest with the Saints on Wednesday night.
