Bears swimming and diving falls at Oswego

OSWEGO, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam swimming and diving teams fell at Oswego State in their first meet of 2012 on Saturday afternoon. The Laker men topped the Bears 148-132 and the Oswego women were victorious, 143-123.

Junior Liz Ringer and sophomore Richie Zimmerman were each triple winners for Potsdam. Ringer won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:20.33, the 100 butterfly in 1:02.11, and the 200 individual medley in 2:21.98. Zimmerman captured the 100 breaststroke (1:01.99), 200 backstroke (2:05.53), and 200 individual medley (2:07.54).

Junior Alexander Taylor won two events with individual victories in the 200 breaststroke (2:18.74) and 500 freestyle (5:12.22). Freshman Matthew Natal won the 100 butterfly (1:01.98) and was a member of the winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:49.38). Sophomores Laurissa Coombs and Ghena Binzer each captured solo victories in the 200 backstroke (2:22.23) and the 200 breaststroke (2:40.87), respectively.

The swimming and diving teams are back in action when they head across town to face Clarkson at 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20.
