POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Potsdam senior swimmers Alexander Taylor and Liz Ringer were named the Maxcy/Molnar award winners for the 2012-13 season at the annual Maxcy Awards Banquet this evening. All seniors, most valuable players and coaches award winners from each of the Bears' 16 varsity programs were also honored during the event.

The Maxcy/Molnar award is presented to one male and one female student-athlete who best combine the qualities of sportsmanship, leadership, scholarship and athletic achievement. Only senior student-athletes who compete in at least one sport for four years or their entire undergraduate career are eligible to receive the award.

He is a three-time all-conference selection, making the second team in 2011 and the first team in both 2012 and 2013. At the SUNYAC Championships this February, he set a SUNYAC record in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:05.48. He was named the Outstanding Male Swimmer of the Meet at the 2012 conference finals. He is also a member of the school record setting 400 freestyle (3:10.98), 800 freestyle (7:10.64) and 400 medley (3:30.68) relay teams.

Ringer set Bears' records in the 100 (0:59.28) and 200 butterfly (2:12.22) competitions at this year's conference championships. She also swam legs on the Bears' record setting 200 freestyle (1:42.23), 400 freestyle (3:46.43), 200 medley (1:53.45) and 400 medley (4:08.50) relay teams during her career.
