Bears softball team continues raising cancer awareness

POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam softball team will sell t-shirts again this season to raise money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer and all other cancers. The Bears will honor cancer victims and survivors before their Senior Day doubleheader against the College at Brockport on April 26.

Starting Monday, April 14, members of the team will be in Barrington Student Union selling the t-shirts each weekday for the next two weeks 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The proceeds will once again be donated to the Canton-Potsdam Hospital's Center for Cancer Care.

The Bears started their tradition of hosting a cancer awareness game last season to honor former Buffalo State softball coach Sandy Hollander, who lost her battle with cancer in the spring of 2012.

After a 15-day layoff due to poor weather and field conditions, the Bears hope to resume their season this weekend with three doubleheaders. Potsdam will travel to Buffalo State for games beginning at 3 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. The Bears will then head to Fredonia for a noon twinbill on Saturday. Sunday, Potsdam will make up a doubleheader at Cortland at noon.
