POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Potsdam hockey player Jessica Silveira has been named the ECAC West Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 11.
Silveira, a sophomore forward, scored five goals and recorded an assist in the Bears’ weekend sweep at St. Michael’s on Dec. 9-10. In Friday’s contest, Silveira broke open a 3-2 contest with a natural hat trick in the third period as Potsdam captured a 6-2 victory. The sophomore scored two more third period goals and added an assist to help the Bears pull away for another 6-2 win on Saturday.
Silveira is currently second on the team with a team-high seven goals and three assists for 10 points in 11 games. The forward has already matched her career-high for goals in a season halfway through her sophomore year.
The SUNY Potsdam women’s hockey team (4-6-1, 4-6-1 ECAC West) is off until No. 8 Plattsburgh invades Maxcy Ice Arena at 3 p.m. on Jan. 6.
