OSWEGO, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's and women's cross country teams were sixth and seventh, respectively at the Don Masterson and Pat Peterson Invitationals hosted by Oswego State on Saturday morning. SUNY Geneseo won both the men's and women's races.
Senior Lauren Orosz (Chase Mills, N.Y./Madrid-Waddington) lead the Bears' women with a 10th place finish and a 5K time of 20:43.9. Senior Brittany Englert (New York Mills, N.Y./New York Mills) and junior Catherine Varriano (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan E. Wagner) were next with times of 22.39.1 and 23:44.2. Senior Mariam Cisse (Manhattan, N.Y./A. Philip Randolph) finished in 24:26.1 and was followed by senior Sarah LaPorta (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem East) in 25:06.1. Freshman Madeline Schmauch (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spackenkill) rounded out the group with a time of 26:45.7.
Junior Anthony Perri (Jericho, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union) paced the men with an 8K time of 30:39.7. Freshmen Chris Sarkis (Haverhill, N.H./Woodsville) and Alex Sanso were next in 31:14.9 and 31:42.3. Junior Ben Shelton (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) crossed the line in 32:20.5 and senior Ryan Sullivan (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) in 33.21.4. Freshmen Alex Gregory (Binghamton, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) (33:35.5) and Logan Drake (Theresa, N.Y./Indian River) (36:43.5) closed out the day for Potsdam.
The Bears are back in action next Saturday when they run at the Hoffman Invitational at St. Lawrence University at 11 a.m.
