OSWEGO, N.Y.- The SUNY Potsdam men's basketball (8-6, 3-4 SUNYAC) held out for a 75-72 victory over the Oswego State Lakers (7-7, 4-3 SUNYAC) on Friday night. Junior forward Dante Langley (Schuylerville, N.Y./Schuylerville) led the Bears with 23 points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Jayquan Thomas (Hollis, N.Y./Richmond Hill) came off the bench and scored a season-high 21 points. Laker Josh Ivey went 6-for-6 from the field, scoring 15 along with 13 rebounds.

Ian Schupp and Langley started the scoring off with three-pointers for their respective teams. After a made free throw from Lakers Tyler Pierre, the Bears went on a 14-4 run at 18:06, with sophomore guard Danny Delsol-Lowry (Queens, N.Y./Queens H.S. of Teaching) and Langley scoring six points each. The run ended with a pair of free throws from Delsol-Lowry with 13:02 left. Oswego cut the lead to 23-21 with 8:02 left in the first. During the five minutes, Ivey had the hot hand, scoring seven of his teams 12 points. For the remainder of the half Potsdam maintained the lead, but Oswego stayed close to them. With 57 seconds left, senior captain Kevin Baksh (Queens, N.Y./Richmond Hill) hit a pair of free throws to put Potsdam up six. They ended the first half leading 42-37. Langley ended the half with 17 points.

The game remained close throughout the first seven minutes of the final half, however Potsdam remained in the lead. With 11:56 remaining Schupp made a layup to give Oswego a 57-56 lead, their first since they were up 3-0, 25 seconds into the game. A few minutes later, Schupp made a shot from beyond the arc to extend the lead to five. The Bears would regain the lead with back-to-back threes from sophomore guard Aaron Armstrong (Lisbon, N.Y./Madrid-Waddington) and Delsol-Lowry. Oswego pulled back in front once again with a jumper from Brandan Grantland, only to lose it on the next possession with a 3-pointer from Thomas. Jamir Ferebee got Oswego back to within one with 1:08 left. After a Potsdam timeout, and with three seconds on the shot clock, Thomas put up a deep three to put the Bears up four with 39 seconds left. Oswego had a chance to hit a game-tying three but missed, giving Potsdam a 75-52 victory.

Delsol-Lowry put up 16 points along with six rebounds, while Armstrong led the team with four assists. Schupp led the Lakers with 23 points and a pair of steals, while Ferebee scored 14 points.

Potsdam shot 49-percent from the field, while Oswego shot 48-percent.

It was the Bears first victory over the Lakers in four years and their first win at Oswego since February 5, 2000.
