POTSDAM, N.Y. – SUNY Potsdam senior captain Curtis Pierce was named to the 2012-13 All-SUNYAC Men's Basketball third team, the league announced Tuesday, Feb. 26.
Pierce, a forward from Brooklyn, N.Y., concluded a spectacular career at Potsdam this season. The senior finished seventh in scoring (17.3 ppg), fifth in rebounding (7.0 rpg), fourth in three-point percentage (.400) and third in steals (53) in the State University of New York Athletic Conference. He led the Bears in scoring (432 pts.), rebounds (174), and steals this year.
Pierce slowly climbed the ranks of the Potsdam greats in scoring and rebounding in his final campaign. He posted a career high performance against Manhattanville College, notching 30 points in the Bears victory on Jan. 5th. The Brooklyn native reached double digits in scoring in 23 of the 25 games and added four double-double performances this year. Throughout the 2012-13 season, the captain continued to surpass several All-Americans on the top 10 lists in scoring and rebounding. Pierce concludes his career tied for 6th place on the all-time scoring list with 1,447 points and claims sole possession of the 6th spot on the all-time rebounding list with 725 boards. He ends his career with three straight third team all-conference selections.
