POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's hockey team (2-1-1, 1-1-1 ECAC West) rallied from an early deficit to tie Oswego State (2-1-1, 0-1-1) 1-1 at Maxcy Ice Arena on Sunday afternoon. Senior assistant captain Amanda Lucky scored for the Bears and sophomore goaltender Alexane Rodrigue (Monland, Ontario/Bemidji State) finished with 30 saves.

The Lakers struck quickly in the contest for their first lead of the weekend. At the 3:06 mark, Rodrigue stopped a shot from senior defenseman Chelsea Hunt (Brockport, N.Y./Buffalo Bison) and freshman forward Bridget Hamlin (Hilton, N.Y./Pittsburgh Penguin Elite) backhanded home the rebound. The defense controlled much of the play during the period, limiting quality scoring chances for both teams. The score was unchanged after 20 minutes.

The offense was tough to come by in the second period as well. The Bears outshot the Lakers 8-7 in the middle stanza and most of the shots came on the power play. Oswego killed Potsdam's first two man advantages, but the Bears made the Lakers pay on the third at 18:20. Senior captain Brittany Lucky (Kanata, Ontario/Ottawa Senators) fed Amanda Lucky at the side of the net and she beat Oswego junior goalie Bridget Smith (Hamburg, N.Y./Mississauga Chiefs Int AA) with a low shot. The teams entered the second intermission knotted at one.

The play opened up early in the third period, with end-to-end action and big stops by both goaltenders. The physical play increased as well, with the period seeing five penalties called. Potsdam outshot Oswego 10-6 and was on the power play for most of the final two minutes, but couldn't net the game-winner in regulation.

In overtime, neither team was able to manage a shot on goal until past the middle of the extra five minutes. The Lakers were able to get strong pressure on the Bears over the remainder of overtime, but couldn't solve Rodrigue who stopped six more shots.

Smith made 24 saves for Oswego to salvage one league point on the weekend. The Lakers finished with a 31-24 advantage in shots. Potsdam was 1-5 on the power play and the Lakers were 0-5.

The Bears finish their six-game home stand next weekend when they host defending National Champion Elmira College for a pair of ECAC West Contests. Friday's contest starts at 7 p.m. and Saturday's game is at 3 p.m.
