PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.—Plattsburgh State (10-4, 5-0 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam men's lacrosse team (4-9, 1-5) 13-4 on Wednesday evening, Junior attackman Eric Soderquist (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) and freshman midfielder Josh Huiatt (Lisbon, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) each led the Bears with a goal and an assist.
Freshman Nick Slate (Saugerties, N.Y. / Saugerties) scored his first career goal and senior Michael Roukous (Dexter, N.Y./General Brown) closed his career with his 10th. Senior goalie Jack Bezek (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) made a career-high 25 saves in his personal finale.
Austen Belz and Ryan Callahan each paced the Cardinals with two goals and two assists. Mike Gay had four assists, while Ryan Hubbard and Logan Lamothe scored three and two goals, respectively.
Austin Graham made eight saves and allowed two goals in the first half to earn the win. Donald Tesoriero made five stops and gave up two goals in the final 30 minutes.
The contest marks the close of the careers of seniors Lucas Clark (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart), Bezek, Casey Boulio (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage), Adam Lewis (West Stockholm, N.Y./Potsdam), Lucas Canino (Highland, N.Y./Highland), Bobby Sollenne (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva), Stephen Lewis (West Stockholm, N.Y./Potsdam), Roukous, Matt Moran (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart), Berkley Stone (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) and Alex Armstrong (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas).
