Bears Cross Country runs at SUNYAC Championships

FREDONIA, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's and women's cross country teams ran at the 2018 SUNYAC Championships in Fredonia this morning. SUNY Geneseo repeated as champions in both the men's and women's meets. The Bears women finished 10th and the men ran as individuals.

Sophomore Emily Downs (Olivebridge, N.Y./Onteora) finished 21st overall, an improvement of 77 spots from a year ago, and led the Bears with a 6K time of 26:42.3. Freshman Lia Clemons (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Peru) and sophomore Adriana Smith (Freedom, N.Y./Pioneer) were next in 27:41.1 and 31:56. Junior Maddie Schmauch (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spackenkill) and sophomore Alice Menis (Schenectady, N.Y./Schenectady) followed in 33:21.8 and 34.41. Freshman Abby Rescorl (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Mynderse Academy) rounded out the group with a time 35:36.

Sophomore Joshua D'Angelo (Camden, N.Y./Camden) paced the men with an 8K time of 34:25.7 and fellow sophomore Matthew Brown (Chestertown, N.Y./North Warren) was next in 35:02.4. Freshman Nicholas Vida (Cornwall, Ontario/Holy Trinity) finished in 37:51.3 and junior Logan Drake (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) reached the finish line at 38:26.2.

The Bears are back in action in two weeks when they compete at the NCAA Atlantic Region Championships at 11 a.m.
