CANTON, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's and women's cross country teams ran to 10th and 8th place finishes at St. Lawrence University's Hoffman Invitational on Saturday afternoon. SUNY Cortland captured the men's 8k race, while the University of Toronto won the 6k women's competition.
Junior Joseph Rafter (Fort Covington, N.Y./St. Lawrence Central) ran a time of 31:04 to lead the Bears. Freshmen Brandon Bobik (Grahamsville, N.Y./Tri-Valley) and Ryan Sullivan (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) were next with times of 31:52 and 33:08, respectively. Juniors Adam Lang (Arkport, N.Y./Arkport) (33:10) and Brett Wunsch (Colonie, N.Y./Colonie) (35:14) were next to round out Potsdam's top five.
Sophomores Hannah Groshner (Wayland, N.Y./Wayland-Cohocton) and Olivia Rehm (Grahamsville, N.Y./Tri-Valley) were the first Bears to cross the finish line in the women's race with times of 26:15 and 28:30. Sophomore Margaret McGrath (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) and senior Kinga Kanczura (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) were next in 29:33 and 31:33. Sophomore Carissa Cuccia (Goshen, N.Y./Goshen) ran a time of 33:03 to be the fifth Bear to finish.
Potsdam wraps up the regular season next Saturday at the Cross Country Only Championships in Geneva, N.Y.
