CANTON, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's cross country team finished sixth, while the women finished fifth at the St. Lawrence University Hoffman Invitational on Saturday morning. Both men's and women's teams of St. Lawrence placed first in their events.
Sophomore Joshua D'Angelo (Camden, N.Y./Camden) paced the Bears men's team finishing with a time of 30:47.55. Sophomore Matthew Brown (Chestertown, N.Y./North Warren) crossed the line next at 32:17.01 and senior Liam Joyce (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) ended the day with a time of 32:46.24. Freshman Nicholas Vida (Cornwall, Ontario/Holy Trinity) and junior Logan Drake (Theresa, N.Y./Indian River) rounded out the men finishing 33:35.08 and 33:37.19, respectively.
Freshman Lia Clemons (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Peru) led the charge for the women with a 24:50.99 finish, placing 18th overall. Sophomore Kristen Alvy (Commack, N.Y./Commack) crossed the line next for the Bears finishing at 28:00.49. Sophomore Adriana Smith (Freedom, N.Y./Pioneer) finished at 28:44.26, while junior Maddie Schmauch (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spackenkill) was behind Smith with a time of 29:02.00. Sophomore Alice Menis (Schenectady, N.Y./Schenectady) and freshman Abigail Rescorl (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Myderse Academy) rounded out the women with times of 30:16.34 and 32:07.97, respectively.
The Bears return to action next Saturday at 11 a.m. as they travel down to Saratoga Springs for the RPI Saratoga Invitational.
