MIDDLEBURY, Vt.—The SUNY Potsdam men’s and women’s cross country teams ran to seventh and sixth place finishes, respectively at the Aldrich Invitational hosted by Middlebury College. The Panthers finished first in both of the races.
Senior George DeVita (Evans Mills, N.Y./Indian River) led the Bears’ men with an 8K time of 32:12 and senior Vidal Garza (Plano, Texas/Plano East) finished next in 33:13. Freshman Jonathan Doane (Camden, N.Y./Camden) recorded a time of 33:34 and freshman Brett Wunsch (Colonie, N.Y./Colonie Central) ran a time of 36:01 to round out the top four.
In the women’s 5K race, senior Hollie Heimer (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) was the top Potsdam runner with a 22:50 mark. Senior Shannon Garvey (Massapequa, N.Y./Hawthorne Cedar Knolls) reached the finish line in 25:09 followed by freshman Rebecca Dukett (Tupper Lake, N.Y./Tupper Lake) in 25:44 and junior Bonna Milem (Wolcott, N.Y./North Rose-Wolcott) in 28:07.
The Bears are off for three weeks before they return to action at the Hoffman Invitational hosted by St. Lawrence on Oct. 8.
