MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam cross country teams both finished 10th the 2016 SUNYAC Championships. Host SUNY Geneseo captured both the men's and women's titles. Junior Anthony Perri (Jericho, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union) paced the Bears men with an 8K time of 27:59. Senior Lauren Orosz (Chase Mills, N.Y./Madrid-Waddington) led the Potsdam women with a 6K time of 23:37.4.

Junior Ben Shelton (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) and freshman Alex Sanso were next for the men in 28:40.9 and 29:27.2. They were followed by seniors Ryan Sullivan (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) (30:37.1) and Alex Gregory (Binghamton, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) (31:26.3). Sophomore Liam Joyce (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) finished in 32:57.9 and senior Moussa Kane (Harlem, N.Y./Park East) posted a time of 33:42.9. Freshman Logan Drake (Theresa, N.Y./Indian River) rounded out the men in 33:51.

Seniors Catherine Varriano (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan E. Wagner) (25:45.5) and Miriam Cisse (Manhattan, N.Y./A. Philip Randolph) (26:52) were the second and third Bears finishers for the women. Sophomore Marie Amell (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) ran a time of 27:54.7 and senior Sarah LaPorta (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem East) recorded a time of 28:03.4. Freshman Maddie Schmauch (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spackenkill) finished the day for the women with a time of 29:42.

Potsdam is back in action next weekend when they head to Glassboro, N.J. for the NCAA Atlantic Region Championships.
