POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Potsdam hockey player Mike Arnold has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 11.
Arnold recorded a hat trick on three power-play goals in the Bears dramatic come-from-behind 5-4 victory over Buffalo State on Saturday night. Two of the junior's goals came in the third period, including the game-winner with 1:32 left. Arnold also added an assist for a four-point night. The hat trick was his second this season.
This year, Potsdam's assistant captain leads his team in scoring with eight goals and three assists for 11 points in five games. Arnold leads the SUNYAC in goals (7), points (9), power-play goals (5) and scoring average (2.25 goals-per-game) in four conference contests. Nationally, he is first in power-play goals (5), eighth in scoring average (2.20 gpg) and third in goals-per-game (1.60).
The Bears (3-2, 2-2 SUNYAC) hit the road this weekend for two crucial contests with Brockport and Geneseo. Potsdam takes on the Golden Eagles at 7 p.m. on Friday and the Ice Knights at the same time on Saturday.
