Poughkeepsie, NY – Seven straight goal started things off for the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team against Vassar College, and the Golden Knights cruised to a 17-7 Liberty League victory over the Brewers on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights won their fifth straight game, improving to 8-2 overall and 2-1 in conference games, while Vassar dropped to 2-5 and 1-1.

In its four games prior to Saturday, Clarkson scored 69 goals, and the change to a league opponent did not slow the Knights' offense. Junior Jaid Baytos scored less than two minutes into the game and Clarkson was off and running, tallying five times in the first 10 minutes. When Baytos scored her third goal of the game at 13:53, Clarkson was up 7-0, and though Vassar picked up three of the next four goals, Abby Collins made sure that the Knights ended the half with momentum, scoring on a pass from Taylor Collins with just two seconds left in the first period.

Any hope of a comeback by the Brewers was squashed quickly in the second with Baytos scoring twice and Abby Collins picked up another goal less than four minutes into the half, putting Clarkson up 12-3. Aubrey Borgesi's extra-attacker goal at 22:54 put the Knights up by double figures and the clock would remain running for all but 13 seconds for the rest of the contest.

The Knights enjoyed an overwhelming advantage in shots (22-7) in the first half and finished with a 34-19 edge. Baytos played a significant role in Clarkson's offensive outburst, scoring eight points on six goals and two assists. Both Abby Collins and Aubrey Borgesi tacked on four goals, with Collins also scooping up five groundballs. Emma Andrews also notched three points on a goal and two assists. Samantha Gladd made eight saves through the first 48 minutes to pick up her eighth win of the season and Emily Fischer stopped one shot in her 12 minutes of goaltending relief.

For Vassar, Fiona MacLeod filled up the stat sheet with four points, four groundballs and three caused turnovers. Kelly Pushie also added four points on two goals and two assists. Emily Chauncey made 10 saves in the Vassar crease.
