Bartenstein guides Roo's basketball past Vermont Tech

(Randolph Center, Vt.)- Sophomore Scott Bartenstein (Potsdam, N.Y.) tossed in a season-high 13 points leading three SUNY Canton players in double figures, as the Roos beat Vermont Technical College for the second time in a week with a 65-59 win in Randolph Center, Vt. on Friday.

Bartenstein shot 6-for-11 from the field and also grabbed a season-high eight rebounds. Collectively, the Roos shot 43 percent from the floor and out rebounded the Knights 42-37 and forced 17 Vermont Tech turnovers. The Roos held a slight 23-22 advantage at halftime and outscored the Knights 42-37 over the final 20 minutes. Vermont Tech shot just 37 percent from the field including 3-for-22 from three-point range.

Junior Khalid Vaughn (New York, N.Y.) added 12 points, six rebounds and three steals for SUNY Canton (4-9). Sophomore Tyler Ellison (New York, N.Y.) came off the bench to score 10 points and pull down six rebounds. Senior Ryan Lamica (Constable, N.Y.) had another terrific all-around game with eight points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals while playing all 40 minutes. Junior Scott Dixon (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and freshman Michael Pulci (Staten Island, N.Y.) each added eight points apiece.

Alex Tyrrell led Vermont Tech with 18 points and Josh Lindsey added a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The Roos complete their Vermont swing on Saturday when they play at the College of St. Joseph at 3 p.m. in Rutland.
