MASSENA – A week before the big Bassmasters Elite contest on the St. Lawrence River last weekend, Chris Backus and Paul Streeter of Cranberry Lake won the Northern New York Bassmasters fourth tournament of the season on the St. Lawrence River from the Massena Intake.
Backus and Streeter brought in 22.35 pounds of bass anchored by the lunker of the day smallmouth of 5.75 pounds.
Following them were Cass Falcon and Richard Falcon of Potsdam with 20.36 pounds, Brad Paradis and Robert Paradis of Ogdensburg with 20.09 pounds and, in fourth place, Doug Kirkbride of Beaver River and James Moore of Gouverneur with 19.47 pounds.
On the season so far, the Team Of The Year standing show a close race among the top five teams of all 31 competing as:
• 1, Paradis & Paradis, 787 pts
• 2, Moore & Kirkbride, 782 pts
• 3, Ogrady & Garrabrant, 781 pts
• 4, Garlock & Marceau, 776 pts
• 5, Capella & Capella, 768 pts
