St. Lawrence University athletic director Margie Strait announced the hiring of Ashley Pike to the position of assistant coordinator of student-athlete development on Tuesday. Pike, who will continue to serve as an assistant coach to the women's lacrosse team, will work alongside Franco Bari to help strengthen the Student-Athlete Development Program and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

"Ashley has been an outstanding member of our department for several years, and I am confident she will do a tremendous job in this new role," said Strait. "She will bring a new perspective to the student-athlete development group and help that program thrive on campus."

Pike, a 2007 graduate of Syracuse University, joined the Saints' women's lacrosse coaching staff for the 2010 campaign. The Watertown, NY native was a stand-out player for the Orange, including Third Team National All-America honors as a senior. Ashley served as a volunteer assistant at Syracuse before her arrival to St. Lawrence, where she has since earned a Master's Degree in educational leadership.

"I would like to sincerely thank Margie Strait and St. Lawrence University for offering me this wonderful opportunity to work with the Student-Athlete Development program, as well as continuing working as a women's lacrosse assistant," said Pike. "I am excited to contribute to the rich tradition of academic and athletic excellence, as well as a variety of programs that St. Lawrence University offers its student-athletes."

The mission of the Student-Athlete Development Program is to support the effort of every student-athlete towards intellectual development, graduation, and preparation for life after college. The goal is to provide support and services to student-athletes through educational programs. The Student-Athlete Development Program has been initiated to support all St. Lawrence University student-athletes by adhering to five commitment areas, including academic development, career development, personal development, community service and athletic development.
