Canton, NY – Sophomore captain Lora Ardoin (Houston, TX) found the back of the net twice to up her season total to four but the women's hockey team fell 5-2 to visiting Franklin Pierce University on Friday evening at the Roos House.

Shortly after killing a penalty Franklin Pierce earned its first power play opportunity of the game and cashed in. Just 23 seconds into the skater advantage Karsyn Baker picked up the loose puck to the right of goal and skated out in front beating Roo goaltender Rebecca DiNardo (Ottawa, ON) across goal and over the stick to make it 1-0. Francesca Paciello and Colleen Doucette were credited with assists on the play. The visitors led 1-0 after one.

The Ravens struck quickly off the opening faceoff of the second period. Baker took the puck into the Franklin Pierce offensive zone with a defender back pedaling and sniped a shot top shelf into the left corner just under the crossbar 19 seconds into the middle period.

Just over two minutes later Marissa Ketterman and Katie Flynn used some quick passing to add a third tally. Flynn passed the puck from right to left as Ketterman made a beautiful move deking to the right and back to the left as she put home a backhander into the left side of the goal. The visitors took a 3-0 lead into second intermission.

SUNY Canton got on the board just 47 seconds into the final frame, two seconds after their power play had ended. Abbey Diabo (Kahnawake, QUE) ripped a shot from the point where Ardoin stood near the left post and redirected it past Ravens goalie Noelle White.

Just over a minute later Doucette skated in from the left circle and beat the Roo goaltender for her fifth goal of the season. Baker and Flynn earned assists on the play.

At the 11:22 mark Ketterman added her second of the evening on a rebound goal off a shot from the high slot. Bryana Harron and Haylea Barbieri assisted the score. Ardoin scored her second goal of the game with nine seconds left off a nice pass from McKayla Duffy (Bloomingdale, NY). Duffy skated behind the net and found Ardoin in the slot who put the puck just inside the left post.

DiNardo stopped 28 shots in net for SUNY Canton, while White made 16 saves and Madison Murray stopped three shots in relief for the Ravens. These teams will have a rematch on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at the Roos House.
