Rochester, NY - Freshmen Aishvina Arasu (Brea, CA) and Danielle Farabee (Katy, TX) did a great deal of damage for the Clarkson University Volleyball team on Friday as the two newcomers combined for 19 kills with no errors in a three-set sweep of host RIT Friday evening.

The Golden Knights improved to 11-3 overall and 2-0 in the Liberty League with the straight set win 25-18, 25-17, 25-21 over the Tigers. RIT fell to 9-5 overall and 0-1 in conference matches. Clarkson will take on Vassar and Bard on Saturday to close out the opening conference weekend.

Arasu led the Knights with 12 kills and no errors on only 18 swings (.667 hitting percentage) and Farabee's percentage was even better (.777) as she had seven kills on only nine swings with no miscues. Junior Lani Durio (Austin, TX) led the team with 32 assists and also added in seven digs. Clarkson's defense overall was solid with 46 digs in three sets, led by Erika Chin (Katy, TX), who had 12 digs. Sophomore Kristen Orlandini (Fairport, NY) also had nine digs, and freshman Kirstie Shurie (LaCanada, CA) had eight digs and led the servers with three aces.

"I thought we passed very well today," head coach Johan Dulfer said. "Our serving was okay as well, but I was most impressed with how disciplined our defense was for huge portions of the match. Our blocking was very crisp and channeled everything to our back row and I felt that was the difference in the match. We look forward to taking on Bard and Vassar tomorrow."
