An extra five minute overtime period was not enough to separate the two teams as the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team remained undefeated in 2015 with a 1-1 tie at Cornell on Saturday afternoon in Lynah Rink.

Clarkson is now 13-6-2 overall and 7-2-2 in ECAC Hockey play.

"I thought tonight could have been the best game we have played all season and I think the players believe that too," stated Clarkson Head Coach Matt Desrosiers. "It was a fun game to be apart of and I couldn't be more proud of the total team effort we brought. I thought we played really well in all three zones and were able to control the play for extended periods of time throughout the game. Our players showed tremendous focus and competed hard every shift which was the major reason for the way we played. Gaining a point on the road against a very good Cornell team is not only big for the league standings but should also help build our confidence moving forward in the second half. If we can use that game as the standard for our play the rest of the way we should be in good shape down the stretch."

Just a little over a month after the two teams scored 11 goals in a 8-3 Cornell win in Cheel Arena, goals were much harder to come by in the rematch. Neither team was able to get on the scoreboard through the first two periods of play.

The Big Red would strike first when Cassandra Poudrier scored her first goal of the season, nearly six minutes into the final frame.

At 12:11, Clarkson would get a man-advantage opportunity. It would take 26 seconds for them to make the opportunity count. Junior assistant captain Erin Ambrose (Keswick, ONT) would be the one to score the tying goal. The goal represented the 100th point of Ambrose's career, with her 25 goals and 75 assists coming in just 90 games. She is now the ninth Clarkson player to reach the 100 point total and is just the fourth player to do it in her junior season. Junior Cayley Mercer (Exeter, ONT) and junior assistant captain Renata Fast (Burlington, ONT) had assists on the goal.

Although both teams had opportunities to score the winning goal, neither could pull it off. Freshman goaltender Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT) made 20 saves in the game, including three in overtime while Paula Voorheis had 40 saves of her own for the Big Red. Clarkson held a 41-21 advantage in shots and went 1-7 on man-advantage opportunities while shutting down all three Cornell power-plays.

Clarkson will return home to Cheel Arena in Potsdam next weekend when they host Union for a 7:00 pm game on Friday and then Rensselear for a 4:00 pm game on Saturday.
