CANTON -- The one-mile and 5K km courses were taken on by 286 runners and walkers July 14 in the second event of the 36th annual Summer Sunset Series.

The men's leaders followed a pattern set in June, with Wesley Kirui first in a time of 16:44, followed by Austin Scott in 16:47 and Jacob Malcomb in third place, clocking 17:08.

Victoria Lederer was the first female finisher again with a time of 20:08. Kristen Betrus earned a second place position with a time of 20:41, and Lindsey LaBarge took third in 21:01.

Note that there was an error in last month's results. The top three female finishers were Victoria Lederer (20:51), Shondel Boyden (20:59), and Kristen Betrus (21:40).

The three fastest milers of the day were Sydney Lorenc in 7:10, Nicholas Lyndaker in 7:19 and Grace McDonough in 7:20.

The third and final event in the Summer Sunset Series will be Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 7:15 p.m. with registration near the St. Lawrence University J-Lot across from Augsbury Gym.

Races are run rain or shine, but thunder and lightning will result in cancellation.
