State police make drug arrests in Russell and Oswegatchie

OSWEGATCHIE — Ogdensburg-based state police said they charged a man with drug possession following a traffic stop Saturday night.

Police did not report where the incident took place but said they charged John T. Gerschwender, 48, Niagra Falls with unlawful possession of marijuana and inadequate plate lamps.

He was also cited for three back passenger violations for ages seven to 15 and a backseat passenger violation for ages 4-6.

Police did not report and more details.

RUSSELL — A Russell man was charged with drug possession on County Route 24 Saturday nigth, according to state police.

Mitch Devito, 20, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, driving without a license and inadequate plate lamps at 9:37 p.m.

He was cited and released.
