Rain, snowmelt is expected to create flooding in St. Lawrence County streams as trout season begins, says weather service

Local anglers who hit the St. Lawrence County stream banks April 1 would be wise to watch for high water this week.

The National Weather Service is predicting that rain and snow melt will combine to create ideal flooding conditions starting tomorrow.

A hazardous weather outlook from noaa.gov indicates that two weather systems will increase concerns for “hydro-related issues.”

Rain is likely Monday night after two days of sunny skies, with a chance of precipitation hovering around 70 percent.

Temperatures increasing to about 50 Tuesday and more rain will instigate high water in local streams and rivers with the additional snow melt from the last storm.

The Weather Service is still uncertain on the amount of snowmelt and rain expected, but said it will have significant impacts on rising water.

Both rain and snow is predicted at various times Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week.
