POTSDAM -- A Potsdam filmmaker and his partner have released an independent horror movie that will be released worldwide on DVD and screened Sept. 29 at the Roxy, according to a release issued by John Sovie II.
"SLEDGE" was filmed in South Colton and features local actors including Dustin Bowman, Stephanie Tupper, Rachel Cornell, Russell Matoes, Desiree Holmes and Travis Hanson.
The movie follows the story of Adam Lynch, a hermit sociopath killer who wields a sledgehammer, and believes he is in a movie and video game that he has created in his head.
In the movie, Lynch “plays” in the video game by collecting faces of his victims camping in the woods near his cabin.
Sovie said horror reviewers have widely advocated for and shared the story of “SLEDGE,” which has led to a large following of “SledgeHeads” across the country.
Sovie and his partner Kristian Hanson said "SLEDGE" has been picked up for distribution by Maxim Media International and will be available worldwide and on demand video services, however a release date had not been set.
To celebrate the early success of "SLEDGE" there will be a free screening on Sept. 29 at the Roxy Theater in Potsdam at 10 a.m. For more information visit SledgeMovie.com.
