OGDENSBURG -- A motorcyclist accused of driving erratically led police on a chase through the city and down two state highways Tuesday.
Drew F. Bertrand 19, of 275 English Settlement Road, Ogdensburg was charged with unlawfully fleeing police officer, two counts of failure to stop for a stop sign, speeding, passing in a no pass zone, and inadequate muffler.
Police say Bertrand was reportedly driving his motorcycle erratically inside the city and was located on New York Avenue.
Sgt. Matthew Erwin attempted a traffic stop, but Bertrand apparently fled. Police say a pursuit followed with the motorcycle exceeding the speed limit by more than 25 miles per hour.
Police said the chase left the city onto State Highway 68 and down State Highway 37 where Bertrand allegedly passed vehicles on the shoulder of the road in no passing zones.
The chase eventually lead down the Lee and Haggart roads. At that point state police joined the search.
New York State Trooper Jason Davison arrested Bertrand on the English Settlement Road at his grandfather's house.
Bertrand was processed and released at the city police department and released to state police for further charges.
