WADDINGTON -- An Ogdensburg man accused of assaulting another man on Halloween night has been captured, according to Ogdensburg Police Department.
Michael J. Nugent, 30, 1848 Jay Street, was charged on a St. Lawrence County Superior Court arrest warrant.
Ogdensburg police say they found him after executing a search warrant at the Riverview Motel in Waddington Sunday.
The Ogdensburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit has been searching for Nugent for months for his alleged involvement in an assault at Davinci’s Tavern on Halloween night 2015.
Police say they had previosuly charged Steven Horton Jr. 28, of 2666 SH 37, Brier Hill on Nov. 4 for his alleged involvement.
Nugent had reportedly fled the area in an attempt to avoid apprehension.
The Ogdensburg Police Department say they had been searching for him since the beginning of the investigation, with the assistance of local, state, and federal agencies.
The victim, Anthony Rybka, was seriously injured during the altercation, police said.
The Ogdensburg Police Department was assisted in Waddington by members of the New York State Police. Nugent also was charged by the state police in an unrelated case.
