OGDENSBURG – An Ogdensburg man was jailed on federal charges Tuesday evening for attempting to obtain a five year-old child to have sex with in exchange for money, according to the Ogdensburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit.
Bruce M. Dority, 53, of Riverview Towers, 232 Washington St., was taken into custody on federal charges for coercion and enticement of a minor, in violation of Title 18 United States Code 2422, officers said.
Dority allegedly traveled to a location in Ogdensburg to obtain a five year-old child, but was taken into custody by law enforcement.
He was held at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility and is scheduled for an initial federal court appearance, in Plattsburgh on May 8.
The arrest was reportedly the result of a joint undercover operation.
He was arrested by members of the Ogdensburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit, the St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies and the Department of Homeland Security.
The investigation remains on going and Dority could be facing further federal charges related to human sex trafficking, police said.
