NORTH LAWRENCE –A North Lawrence man was arrested and jailed for criminal obstruction of breathing, fourth-degree criminal mischief: preventing a call for help, and second-degree harassment following a domestic dispute with his girlfriend, according to state police.

Donald D. Burnham, 44, was charged at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Police report Burnham grabbed his girlfriend by the neck obstructing her breathing, broke numerous items in the house, and ripped the phone cord out of the wall while she tried to call for help.

Burnham was also issued tickets for unlicensed operator and third-degree unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle because he operated his girlfriend's truck without a license. He was arraigned in the Town of Brasher Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash or $2,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Lawrence Court on Dec. 6.
