OSWEGATCHIE – An Ogdensburg man who fled on foot from Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center after an ATV accident has been charged with driving while intoxicated, obstruction of governmental administration, and other offenses.
Edward J. Besio, 48, 94 River Lane, had an accident with his ATV on Taylor Road, striking a telephone box after he lost control of the vehicle, according to St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies. Deputies, the Heuvelton Fire Department and Ogdensburg Rescue were all at the scene. Besion was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
Deputies got a blood sample at the hospital to determine his blood alcohol content.
Besio allegedly fled the hospital, but was taken into custody a short time later.
In addition to the DWI and obstruction charges, Besio was given tickets alleging failure to reduce speed for a curve, operating an ATV on a public highway, and operating am ATV without a helmet.
